A Level English Literature

Your Unique Experience

All learners will have the choice of coursework projects and you interests and motivations will be encouraged and developed through support with your teacher.

Course Content

This course is for learners who enjoy reading and delving into the minds and motivations of a wide range of authors. You will read and study a variety of literary texts including, novels, drama, short stories and poetry whilst getting the opportunity to investigate one pre and one post 2000 prose text of your own choice where you will investigate connections between different writing, genres and authors.

More than just a Course

Through the medium of reading, this course will allow you entrance to the mind-set of characters very different from yourself. You will develop your own ability to write and investigate, developing skills that may be very important as you embark on higher education.

An A level in English Literature will enhance your understanding of other A level subjects such as History, Classical Civilisation, Religious Studies, Film Studies and Sociology.

Entry Qualifications

Learners must have;

Level 5 in any English GCSE plus 5 GCSEs at grade C or above

Progression

Possible careers: journalism, marketing, proofreading, teaching, politics and law.
