A Level Law

Your Unique Experience

In the first year of this course, students will receive a grounding in the English legal system and sources of law making, where they will find out about the criminal and civil courts, the sentencing of offenders, the legal profession and judicial precedent. A detailed study of aspects of criminal law and the law of tort (eg negligence – personal injury) will also be included. In the second year, the focus will be on the law of contract, as well as the nature of law which will consider the relationship of the law to things like morality and justice.

Special Features

All Law students will also visit Tameside Magistrates’ Court & Manchester Crown Court to observe proceedings. Students will also have the opportunity to undertake work experience at a local solicitors’ firm, should they so wish. Guest speakers also come in to College and talk to Law classes. eg police, CAB staff, solicitors etc.

Entry Qualifications

5 GCSEs at grade C or above to include grade 6 GCSE in English Language

Progression

Many students who study Law at A Level go on to study Law at University and thereafter to careers as solicitors, barristers and other legal professionals.

Course fees are per year.
If you are aged 19+ at the start of the course you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learning loan.
