HNC in Creative Media Production

On a 1-year HNC course in media, learners will develop skills gained at level 3 and take them to the next level of competency. The aim of these courses is to prepare our learners for working in the media industry and developing them as confident professionals in their specialist fields. Taught by teachers experienced in many sectors of the industry, this course will work in partnership with local and national media organisations and businesses to allow each learner to gain professional work experience. This course is split into the following units:

● Further 2 optional units
● Game Design
● Further 2 optional units

The BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a Level 4 qualification made up of 120 credits and is studied full-time over one year.

If you are interested in working in Film and Television this course provides high level training within the vocational areas of creative media production. This course provides learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to gain employment in the media sector or to progress to an appropriate undergraduate degree. Learners will achieve a qualification that will enable them to gain employment in the media sector or to progress to an appropriate undergraduate degree. Learners will also gain the transferable skills that will enable them to progress and to move within the media sector. The work experience undertaken by each learner will give them a head start in the industry and introduce them to influential media professionals.

This is a full time programme; you will complete 2 mandatory units: Contextual Studies and Research Techniques and 6 units chosen for that specialise in Film and Television; you must pass all the units to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, projects and interactive activities.

● State of the art TV studio, equipment, Mac Suites, software and industry trained teachers.
● You will be supported in gaining work experience in a professional media industry environment.
You are required to have English and Maths at a Grade C/4 or above, a Level 3 Diploma in a Media related subject or two relevant A Levels grade A-C.
