During the first term, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in a number of discipline areas. These will include Fine Art, Fashion and Textiles, Photography, 3- D Design, Graphics, Illustration and Animation (these will be delivered by a team of specialist practitioners). The second term will be when you decide on your chosen area of study and you will develop in-depth enquiry, analysis and reflection, culminating in a portfolio suitable for progression. The final outcome will be participating in a professionally curated exhibition, where your final work(s) will be displayed for the general public, friends and family.
Our Foundation Course has been running for 40 years and has a successful track record of students receiving high grades and progressing to outstanding Universities and future careers. We aim to deliver an exciting and high- level learning experience, where students can make an informed decision on their chosen progression route.
You will be taught by Lecturers with a wealth of experience, who will be committed to delivering a range of disciplines to enable you to have a fuller, more informed knowledge of opportunities within a career in Art and Design. Drawing in its widest context will be the basis of all disciplined areas. You will be expected to develop research about artists both historical and contemporary and understand your own practice in context. A range of materials, techniques and processes will be introduced, to enable you to experiment and refine your skills.

This course will be based in the new college building in the centre of Ashton town centre, opening September 2018. The state of the art facilities will encompass workshop and studio space to full fill the requirements of the course.
● A minimum of 4 GCSE’s at C/ level 4
● A level or BTEC National, BTEC Extended Diploma.
● We also consider portfolio based entry if over 18 and/ or have no formal qualifications.
The aim of this programme is for students to progress to university, have careers in the art and design industry, develop and improve their portfolios or gain apprenticeships.
