The University of Chester is one of the oldest Higher Education establishments
in England. Its original buildings in the ancient city of Chester were the first
in the country to be purpose-built for the professional training of teachers.
At the heart of the University of Chester are the teaching excellence and the
offer of a rewarding student learning experience. The university is committed to
providing a distinctive student experience, grounded in a high quality and
supportive learning environment.
As well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, a new range of foundation
degrees combines conventional university study with learning at work.
Development of well-respected courses in Business and Management, Social
Science, and Education and Children’s Services has further extended the
University’s work and connections with industry, commerce and the professions.
Academic leadership and vision are at the core of
the university’s ambitious plans for the future. The University of Chester is
dedicated to fulfilling its primary commitment continually in order to advance
excellence in teaching and research. At the same time, the university takes part
in the Government’s scheme Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), which enables
companies to gain access to the knowledge and expertise gathered in educational
institutions across the UK. In addition, in 2011 the University of Chester
launched the Riverside Innovation Centre which is an innovation-focused facility
aiming to boost entrepreneurship and encourage synergy between businesses,
academics and existing innovation and enterprise support teams in the UK. As a
result the University of Chester has not only a growing research profile but
also an increasing number if links with local and national companies.
The University of Chester’s exceptional results along with its long history in teaching
and the aforementioned links with businesses prompted Tameside College to
establish this partnership so that students in Tameside have the opportunity to
achieve a degree benefiting from both institutions’ expertise.
The University of Huddersfield is an award winning university, gaining increasing recognition for the quality of teaching and research, student satisfaction and focus on work experience, innovation and enterprise. Huddersfield won the first Global Teaching Excellence Award recognising the University’s commitment to world-class teaching and its success in developing students as independent learners and critical thinkers (Higher Education Academy, 2017).
Located right in the town centre and at the heart of the local community, we help thousands of people, from school leavers to those returning to education after a gap, achieve their goals each year here at Huddersfield. Since 2010, £80 million has been spent on campus development making sure our students have access to some of the best facilities in the country.
Offering undergraduate, postgraduate and teacher training courses means you can specialise in an area you’ve never studied before or expand your knowledge in an area you studied at degree level. Some of our courses are linked to national or international issues or areas that are projected to grow - leading to increasing demand for qualified, knowledgeable individuals.
