Tameside College & Silver Springs Academy link up to help encourage local residence to return to learning.
Local Primary School, Silver Springs Academy opened up its computer suite to Tameside College, allowing their tutors to deliver a Level 1 Secretarial Course, hoping to bring learning back to the heart of the community.
Learners were able to drop off their children at the school and then conveniently stay and study themselves. The individuals who enrolled on the course were required to pass two examinations, and to everyone’s delight, all of the learners passed both exams with distinction!
Following on from their success, a number of the learners have now progressed on to a full time course at Tameside College. Emma Garside, Louise Grace and Jessica Marcia have eagerly started on a Business Administration course, whilst Christina Leigh decided that the Legal Secretarial Level 2 course was the one for her.
Christina Leigh, commented, “I signed up for the course at my children’s school, whilst I was on maternity leave. Having previously worked in the Care Industry for the past 10 years I really wanted to try something different”.
Christina went on to say, “I never imagined this would lead me to enrolling on to a full time course at Tameside College. It’s given me the confidence to believe I can change my life. I’d like to thank my tutor, Lina Di-Fruscia, for being an amazing teacher and for really believing in us all”.
