Awards Evening 2013

Awards Evening 2013

Every year Construction, Engineering and Motor Vehicle Departments at Tameside College host an Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of their outstanding students.

Students, Parents, Employers and Sponsors were welcomed by Principal, Peter Ryder. Following the Principals welcome, guest speaker Phillip Brown, Managing Director of Benchmark Building Supplies, took to the stage to deliver a motivational speech.

The ceremony commenced with a range of different awards such as, Construction Student of the Year, Personal Achievement Awards and Certificates of Outstanding Achievement. Each winner was individually called up to collect their award by the Head of Departments, Julie Jackson Engineering Technologies and Richard Gleaves Head of Built and Natural Environment. The majority of the awards and prizes were sponsored by local Construction, Engineering and Motor Vehicle businesses around Tameside.

Tameside College works closely with businesses and 93% of students’ progress into employment or further studies.

Nathan Cox, Construction Student of the Year Award Winner said; “I felt very proud that my achievements have been acknowledged. The evening was well laid out and very successful.”

James Goddard, Engineering Student of the Year and EIA Award Winner said; “The awards night was brilliant and to see the efforts of all students involved being rewarded was great. I think it’s important to have that recognition when you’ve worked hard in your subject, especially when you are having a positive impact on the people studying around you. Not only does it provide you with a sense of achievement, but provides students with an excellent resource for building their CVs.”

Peter Ryder said; “This evening provides an opportunity for students, their families and their tutors to celebrate their achievements and look forward to their future.  I wish all of tonight’s award winners the very best. Many of our learners are already pursuing successful careers and I hope that they will visit us again in the future to inspire the next generations of young people developing their skills at college.”
