Students’ tea party is a ‘royal’ success

Childcare students and staff at Tameside College hosted a royal wedding themed tea party earlier this week to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding.

The event, which welcomed students from a wide range of college departments, included tea, cake and a buffet alongside themed activities such as a royal selfie station and a ‘design a wedding cake’ challenge.

The tea party was organised by students and childcare teacher, Hayley Barclay, to help embed values learnt on the course and to explore the topic of British values.

Emily Bibby, childcare student at Tameside College, said: “Helping to plan and set up the royal wedding tea party was great fun. It was fantastic seeing everyone joining in and enjoying themselves whilst sharing tea and cakes. I was amazed that so many people came along so I feel quite proud of what we managed to achieve.”

Hayley Barclay, childcare teacher at Tameside College, said: "I am super proud of my entry level three group. To have them organising a complex event such as this and confidently working alongside new students and staff was great to see. The morning was great fun and enjoyed by all visitors.”
