Students hoping to ‘make the cut’ for national finals

Lauren Mole and Samuel Bright, hospitality and catering students at Tameside College are on the road to success after taking part in the WorldSkillsUK heats 2019.
Lauren and Samuel, former Samuel Laycock and Manchester Creative and Media Academy students respectively, took part in the two day competition at the City of Glasgow College recently.
Both students competed in the front of house category which included: flambé, fruit cuts, table layup and drinks service.
WorldSkillsUK promotes the skills of college students and apprentices by selecting a UK team to compete on the world stage. Lauren and Samuel hope to follow in the footsteps of previous Tameside College students who have competed in the national finals in Birmingham at WorldSkills Live.
John Holden, food and beverage teacher at Tameside College, said: “I am extremely proud of Lauren and Samuel for competing in this major competition, under pressure, to a high standard. They had a great time whilst competing and if they do qualify for the national finals it will be an amazing achievement. I wish them the best of luck and hope that they can represent Tameside College on a national level.”
