Sky’s the limit for Fairfield pupils at Tameside College

Pupils from Fairfield High School reach for the skies with a workshop delivered by Tameside College’s travel and tourism department.

The pupils took part in various activities whilst at the college to help with their GCSE studies. These included a holiday destinations quiz, Q&A with teacher, Christine Faye, and a chance to take part in flight safety drills in Tameside College’s mock airplane cabin.

Sophie Senior, geography teacher at Fairfield High School, said: “I want to say thank you to Tameside College for organising the visit to the travel department. Christine's session was great and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I think some have decided a career in travel may be for them in the future after the session and it has encouraged them to have higher aspirations.”

The travel and tourism department is located in the college’s brand new Tameside One campus, in the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne. It offers state-of-the-art facilities, allowing students to study in realistic working environments and includes a commercial restaurant, bakery and salons, alongside the latest ‘gaming suites’.
