Students meet special guest from Ritz London

Professional cookery students at Tameside College have virtual guest talk with executive head chef of the Ritz London.

Held via Zoom at Tameside One, the talk allowed John Williams MBE to discuss his career journey. During this time, John gave learners an insight into what he looks for in a chef, plus his favourite dishes.

The students received an insight into the food industry as part of the course. They also learned more about the restaurant industry, the responsibilities involved, and where their future careers can take them.

John Holden, food and hospitality tutor, said: “It was great pleasure and honour for our students to see and speak to someone like chef John Williams MBE, who is one of the most amazing and talented chefs that Britain has to offer. It was a great coup for the department, for him to tell his story.

The department would like to thank John Williams MBE for his time and the inspiration he gave to the students.”

Since their virtual meeting, students have been sent some of John Williams’ own recipes to try and develop. This is a great opportunity to improve their skills.
