Scott ‘flies in’ to give students industry insight

Industry expert visits travel and tourism students at Tameside College to discuss his career and pass on skills.

Scott Brazil, a senior cabin crew member and trainer for Eastern Airways, delivered a presentation and worked with students to prepare them for their careers.

Scott has worked for a range of airlines in the industry including KLM, Jet2 and now Eastern Airways, a regional airline based at Humberside Airport.

During his talk, Scott discussed his role with the airline and how he started his career, safety onboard flights, training available to cabin crew members, salaries and uniform.

Students had the opportunity to take part in a teamwork session, designing their own airline and brand and then presenting their ideas to Scott.

Each student also had an individual mock interview with Scott and Andrea Tindill, travel and tourism teacher, to prepare them for their future careers in the industry.

Andrea, said: “I’d like to thank Scott for visiting the college to work with and speak to our students. His knowledge and experience of the industry is second to none.  The mock interviews and group session were fantastic practice for the future and his talk has given them a greater understanding of the role and responsibilities involved. It has been an invaluable experience overall and I hope that we can work with him again soon.”

Caitlin Cullen, travel and tourism student at Tameside College, said: “Scott explained how difficult but rewarding the job can be at times. It made me feel like I really want a career in the industry and that I am going to have to work hard for it. Coming up with an airline and its brand etc. was so fun and I feel that if it was a real interview situation I would have been successful. It was a great day, thank you to Scott for visiting.”
