Level 1 Award in Accounting Software

This qualification can offer a route into employment, support students in their existing work, or help students to pursue further study with AAT. This qualification may also interest those who are self-employed or working in small businesses with a requirement to do their own bookkeeping. Throughout the course you will develop a range of skills and knowledge preparing you for progression into employment in the Accounting and Business Sector. You will focus on one unit each term which consist of:

Access Award in Business Skills – which is made up of the following topics:

● Preparing for Work
● Using Numbers in Business
● Sales and Purchases in Business

Access Award in Bookkeeping – which will enable you to:

● Understand the role of the bookkeeper
● Understand financial transactions
● Process customer and supplier transactions
● Process receipts and payments

Access Award in Accounting Software – which will enable you to:

● Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software
● Set up accounts
● Record bank and cash transactions
● Produce reports using accounting software

● You will have access to a range of online resources on the AAT website which will include ELearning resources, sample assessments and Green Light tests.

● You will gain sector specific knowledge and skills which will help you to find employment in a business/accounting role.
For the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their AAT studies with a good standard of English and maths.

The skills developed in this qualification can lead to employment in junior or supporting administrative roles in companies across a wide range of public and private sectors, for example, as a:

● trainee bookkeeper
● data entry clerk
● accounts administrator
● invoice entry administrator
● payments administrator.

The knowledge and skills developed in this qualification may also support those students who wish to progress to other qualifications such as the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting.

Membership fees are not included in the course fees.

If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, tuition fees will be waived.
