Level 1 Award in Painting & Decorating

This programme is the first step to gaining a qualification in the Construction Industry, specifically in the role of Painter & Decorator.

●  Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others

●  Prepare common surface types for decoration

●  Apply basic paint systems by brush and roller

●  Apply foundation and plain papers

●  Produce standard decorative finishes

Painting & Decorating is an exciting and challenging career. The course will combine core skills such as communication, organisation, planning as well as practical skills. The course will give you the knowledge and skills to progress into a higher qualification.
An Individual Learning Plan will be designed for your needs

●  You will work with the latest industry tooling as used by Painting and Decorating specialists including Hamilton’s, Mirka & Festool.

●  On your course you will learn vital skills which will assist you in painting and decorating tasks around your home

●  You will be encouraged to progress your learning within the vocation.
Learners must have;

●  Successful interview with a Painting & Decorating tutor

●  A genuine interest in the subject

●  Good communication skills

●  A hardworking approach towards the industry
Assessment is ongoing throughout the duration of the course. We’ll ask you to complete practical assessments which are recorded in a basic work book which includes a brief written task in relation to the construction industry Health & Safety and communication.
●  CSkills Awards Diploma Level 1 Painting & Decorating

●  Level 2 Painting & Decorating Standard (Apprenticeship)
If you are a Greater Manchester resident, and meet the unemployed criteria, or are employed, including where the low wage flexibility may apply, (or are aged 19-23 and non GM resident) and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, tuition fees will be waived.
