Level 3 Travel and Tourism

The course will provide you with a thorough understanding of some of the key sectors in the Travel and Tourism industry. Its aim is to provide you with the practical skills and knowledge vital for a career within the industry.

Over two years you will cover 16 units covering a range of vocational topics. The units are subject to change but normally include:

Worldwide travel and tourism destinations

Promotions and sales in travel and tourism

Special interest holidays and independent travel

Travel and tourism destinations – England

Tourism in the UK

Package holidays

Overseas representatives

Investigating the cruise industry

Developing people in travel and tourism

Travel and tourism destinations – Scotland

Holiday park hosts

Ancillary sales and services

Work placement in travel and tourism

Planning and delivering guided tours

Conferences and events

Foreign exchange

The course will give you the opportunity to discover how a range of sectors operate and what job roles and responsibilities are available within the industry. This will be achieved through work experience, practical assessments and by completing assignments which are based on realistic workplace situations.

The course allows learners to reach their full potential by the development of interpersonal skills such as communication and teamwork. Learners will also develop their written work and presentation skills.
The course provides students with an opportunity to develop skills, personal qualities and an attitude to succeed in working life. You will undertake a number of study visits, including an overseas residential (subject to approval). We normally ask for a contribution towards the costs of these visits.
5 GCSEs Grade A*- C including Maths and English
On completion of this two year course you will have the option of progressing into a career in travel and tourism or continue onto a further specialist Travel and Tourism course in higher education.
