Introduction to Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Level 1 (Foundation), full time, 16-18

This is a full time study programme which covers a wide range of Beauty Therapy Topics. The units are assessed internally by subject specialist teachers. Most units consist of a mix of theory assessments (exams and assignments) and practical assessments which are carried out in our brand new, high street, commercial salon.

Some of the topics you will cover over the year include; manicure, pedicure, nail art, face painting, facials, reception and health and safety. You will also be required to purchase the salon uniform and a kit prior to commencing the course. Financial support is available to some students to purchase equipment.
Beauty therapy offers an exciting and challenging career in a fast paced industry.

The course includes a variety of practical and theory classes alongside commercial salon sessions on paying clients. You will take part in trips, visits, seminars and competitions alongside your course to further develop your understanding and knowledge of the industry. You are also expected to undertake work experience in a beauty salon to enhance your skills, keep you up to date with the latest trends and aid employability and progression opportunities.
3 GCSE Grades 3-1 / D-G. You will be interviewed by subject specialist teachers and should demonstrate enthusiasm about a career in the beauty therapy industry. You will have the opportunity to re sit your maths and English if you do not have a grade 4 alongside your qualification.
●  You will be assessed by various methods of assessment including practical assessments, online exams, assignments and written tasks. The units are grades Pass, Merit or Distinction
On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:

●  Beauty Therapy Level 2

●  Apprenticeship in a salon

●  Hair and Media Make up Level 2

●  Junior in a salon

●  Hairdressing Level 1
