Site Carpentry Intermediate Level 2 (PT Evening)

Our adult level 2 site Carpentry course is aimed at people wishing to learn some skills in carpentry and joinery, to progress on to becoming skilled in the craft, or to progress through an apprenticeship and work towards becoming a master craftsman. Skills gained range from 1st fix, 2nd fix and carpentry maintenance.

This course will include the following:

1. Carry out first fix flooring and roofing

2. Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs

3. Carry out second fixing operations

4. Carry out carpentry maintenance

5. Set up and operate a circular saw

6. Health & Safety

7. Construction Technology
Tameside Colleges construction workshops are well-equipped with a range of specialist tools and resources. Well-appointed classrooms and computer facilities enhance the workshops and provide a link between the practical and the knowledge-based aspects of the course.
3 or 4 subjects at grade 2 ideally including English and Maths
Assessment in practical skills is continuous with end of module assessments in theoretical knowledge.
Level 2 Extended Diploma in Carpentry
If you are a Greater Manchester resident, and meet the unemployed criteria, or are employed, including where the low wage flexibility may apply, (or aged 19-23 and non GM resident) and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, tuition fees will be waived.
