Foundation CNC Setting, Operation and Programming (4 days) (Aug/Oct/Dec/Feb)

You will learn how to set and operate CNC machines. You will also learn how to produce basic CNC programs and then to edit/simulate & manufacture components on the CNC machines.

The course will include:

Introduction & General Layout of Machines, including safety features.

Operator, Keyboard & Soft-key Explanation (familiarity with CNC controls)

Axes Configuration. X, Y, Z.

Manual modes and use of MDI

Tooling; types of tools and tool holders, tool setting etc.

Setting tool length offsets and tool offset library

Datum setting (G54 – G59); methods and practically setting

Tool Library & Memory Configuration.

Produce basic CNC programs using ISO codes (G & M)

Introduction to fixed forms

Program editing and simulation

Producing components – use of single block, optional stop, federate override etc

(following safe working practices at all times)
Develop industry standard CNC Setting skills for both CNC Lathes & CNC Machining Centres, using new ‘industrial standard’ Doosan fanuc CNC machines.
No previous CNC experience required. A general engineering knowledge would be beneficial.
Tuition fees are payable by all students. Discounted fees are not available.
