Brickwork Intermediate Level 2 (PT Evening)

Our adult level 2 brickwork courses will train learners to build and repair structures, walls, chimneys, walkways and foundations using various types of blocks and brick. On completion of the course learners will have the skills to compete a range of projects from a small brickwork project, a house extension to a major stadium project. No matter what level you are currently working at, you will continue learning English and maths throughout your course.

1. How to use bricklaying tools and equipment

2. How to set out basic building work

3. How to build simple brick/block walls

4. How to build solid walls

5. How to build cavity walls

6. How to build using modern construction methods e.g. timber frame cladding.
Tameside Colleges construction workshops are well-equipped with a range of specialist tools and resources. Well-appointed classrooms and computer facilities enhance the workshops and provide a link between the practical and the knowledge-based aspects of the course.
3 or 4 subjects at grade 2 ideally including English and Maths
Assessment in practical skills is continuous with end of module assessments in theoretical knowledge.
Level 2 Extended Diploma in Brickwork
If you are a Greater Manchester resident, and meet the unemployed criteria, or are employed, including where the low wage flexibility may apply, (or aged 19-23 and non GM resident) and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, tuition fees will be waived.
