Staff will bring with them and instil the culture of professional rehearsal etiquette – the student experience will feel much more like Director and Performer and less like student and teacher.
For our level 3 course, you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including English. If you were unsuccessful in achieving your GCSE in maths, you will be able to retake this during your time at college.
You will also be required to undertake an interview and be invited to our full-day audition. You will also be required to write a short (approximately 500 word) piece explaining a little about yourself and why you want to be a performer.
This is a full-time course, which we approach in a very practical way. Although there is not a lot of written work, you will be required to write a Log Book, keep a diary and write essays.
The majority of your assessments will be through your performances, many of which will be to public audiences in our own 200 seat theatre. Other performance venues may include the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Trafford centre and other site specific venues.
On successful completion of this qualification, many young people progress into Higher Education at Drama School or University, where they continue to train to become professional performers, teachers, theatre practitioners or professional coaches.
You could start a higher level apprenticeship where you could train for a career in the performance or production industries.
Many young people move immediately into the industry and can often be seen on stage and television.
