International travel and tourism is an ever expanding industry. In December 2014, it was identified that over 3 million people were employed in travel and tourism industries in England. From tour operators to travel agencies, airlines to airports, visitor attractions to blogging, the industry is evolving.
The employment market is vast and the job roles within the industry are progressing. Along with the traditional travel agencies, young people are identifying the modern travel industry as an excellent career path.
Local online travel agency On The Beach to some of Manchester’s finest hotels, students are seeing that travel and tourism is more than ‘cabin crew’.
Manchester is a hub for international travel and tourism along with the longstanding neighbouring cultural city of Liverpool. The many employers in the North West seek young, fresh, motivated, well qualified individuals; Tameside College being perfectly situated to provide such talent.
A Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND) is an excellent qualification that will develop your skills and knowledge for a successful career in International Travel and Tourism.
By the end of the full two year programme, you may be able to progress onto a BA (hons) top up course at an external university.
