Sport

Archery

Archery is a sport involving shooting arrows with a bow at a target. Archery is a great way to help develop your skills in balance, hand eye coordination and strength. This session will take place in the sports hall at Beaufort Road.

Futsal

The futsal sessions are an organised small sided football session which takes place within the sports hall at Beaufort Road. The session is 1 hour long, 5-6 a side small sided mini tournament, all of which is dependent on numbers.

All ages and abilities are welcome to this session which is generally on between dinner time hours (Please see wellbeing timetable on times). This session is also an opportunity for the enrichment team to look at new players to participate in the Tameside college football team who play every Wednesday from 1-4pm.

Basketball

This session is a great way to learn a new sport which involves a variety of skill development, game invasion and mini tournaments. All sessions will take place within the sports hall at Beaufort Road. The session is 1 hour long, all ages and abilities are welcome to this session which is generally on between dinner time hours (Please see wellbeing timetable on times). This session is also an opportunity for the enrichment team to look at new players to participate in the Tameside college Basketball team.

Racket Sports - Badminton and Table tennis

This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and partner up with players who are looking to play badminton or table tennis, this can help increase stamina and endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination. All sessions will take place within the sports hall at Beaufort Road. The session is 1 hour long, all ages and abilities are welcome to this session which is generally on between dinner time hours (Please see wellbeing timetable on times).

Cricket

Cricket is a bat and ball game and is played in the sports hall. Cricket is a team sport which can help increase stamina and endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, and cardio. Cricket includes a lot of throwing and sprinting across the hall, which is a great cardiovascular activity.

Volleyball

This is a great opportunity to meet new people who are looking to play volleyball, volleyball is team sport that is great for building leadership and team skills, it can also help increase cardiovascular endurance, agility and balance. This session will take place in the sports hall at Beaufort Road.

Netball

Netball is a great way to help build communication skills and meet new people. Netball is a team sport that can help improve cardiovascular endurance, balance, hand eye coordination and agility, it requires a lot of moving around, throwing and catching. This session will take place in the sports hall at Beaufort Road.

Golf

Learn to pitch, putt, and chip with our expert golf instructor for free! If you are a complete beginner, have only played a little and want to start with the basics, or you need a refresher, our fun golf enrichment sessions are perfect for you.

We provide all of the equipment needed and sessions take place in our sports hall at Beaufort Road.

Chess Club

Our chess club combines educational and social activities. Members can come to play, to learn, to teach, and to get together with old friends and make new ones. The club is open to all staff and students, regardless of your level of skill and experience!

Exercise/gym

Latin Dancing

Whether you are a beginner or an expert everyone is welcome! This session will take place at within the dance studio over at Clarendon. This session is 30 minutes long and students will learn fundamental steps of dance styles within the Salsa genre. Proper posture, strength, and flexibility will be a focus of the class, while students will also learn to work within the dynamics of being a member of a team.

Open Gym

This is open access to use the gym at the college within the opening times which is available to all staff and students within the college. Please make sure before using the gym you have completed the PARQ form and have received an induction to use the gym. Please make sure you follow the terms and conditions when using the College gym

Boxercise

Boxercise is based on the training concepts boxers typically use to keep fit, which includes boxing movements, typically in a circuit, and other types of workouts.

Boxercise activities help with tightening, toning and building definition, but not bulk. The fast reps of these activities build endurance and stamina. During a Boxercise session you use your entire body and receive a full cardiovascular workout. Boxercise can also seriously improve motor skills, balance, reaction time, and overall agility as we engage hand eye coordination in both hands.

Kettlebells

Kettlebell workouts will help you to build muscle and improve your strength, core stability, balance, flexibility, and coordination. It’s a versatile program where you will perform a range of exercises which target single or multiple groups at the same time. Learn the basics of front squats, swings, cleans and snatches to build strength and be the fittest you have ever been.

Circuit Class

The class will provide you with a complete break-down of exercises you complete, an intense workout to music and a stretch off at the end. The use of interval style training will help build your fitness levels up fast! The great thing about this type of training is you can also work at your own level by using modifications of the tougher exercises to suit your own abilities.

Ab Blast

A great 20-30-minute ab session to help strengthen and tone your core. This is a quick and fun way to help build your fitness levels and confidence, because this is high intensity it will also help improve your muscular endurance.

Legs, bums, and tums

This class will provide you with great exercises to help strengthen/tone your legs and core. Legs bums and tums will be a 30-minute session which will be, if you’re looking at improving the shape of your legs and slimming down this is the perfect class for you.

1-2-1 Fitness Sessions

If you’re looking at getting in shape or building your confidence in the gym, this is a great way to help build your knowledge and reach your fitness goals for example losing weight or gaining strength and building muscle.

Wellbeing Walks

A perfect way to help relieve stress or take a bit of time to reflect on your day, this can help reduce anxiety and help improve your mental wellbeing. This is also a fun way to become more physically active and improve your cardiovascular fitness.

Non-Physical Activity

Debate Club

A debate club gives students of all abilities a fun way of developing their oracy skills. This session is a great way to help you with your critical thinking and confident communication. This is a club where students can get together and have a discussion over a chosen topic.

Gaming Club

Gaming club is an opportunity for students of all ages and abilities to socialize and have fun together based on their hobby of playing video games. Students will have an opportunity to play multi and single player games all for free!

British Sign Language

This session is for all students and staff who want to learn British Sign Language. It aims to give learners a basic knowledge of signs so that they are able to participate in simple everyday communicative situations.

LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ Club is a social place, which will give you a great opportunity to make friends, celebrate diversity, learn from each other in a safe and welcoming environment.

Breakfast Club

This popular program offers a free breakfast of cereals, toast, a selection of fruit coffee and orange juice for students who need just need a little support, the sessions allow for students to get the energy required to kick start their day.

Animal Wellbeing

The Animal wellbeing centre will be opening their doors for students and staff to see the animals, this is where you can see all the animals that are looked after. You will be greeted by the amazing support staff and students there who will show you around and will allow time to meet the animals. Please refer to the timetable at sports reception to see when you can book.

Quiz and Games Session

This session will involve a variety of different games to test the mind but also develop core team building skills, all sessions will take place at Clarendon. Please check the updated timetable to see when the next session will be starting.

Knitting and Crochet

Knitting and crochet are really methods of stitching yarn together, just in different styles. Knitting uses a pair of long needles to form the loops, moving a set of loops from one needle to another; the stitches are held on the needle. Crochet uses a single hook to hook the loops together directly on the piece. Why not learn how to knit and do crochet with our staff at the college!

Cross Stitch

This is a great opportunity to try something new and find a new hobby. Cross stitch is a form of needlework which requires you to make patterns using x’s. Cross stitching was traditionally used for decorating household items such as tablecloths and dishcloths, this has been known to be very calming and help reduce stress.

Book club

Book club is a reading group, usually consisting of a number of people who read and talk about books based on a topic or an agreed-upon reading list. Staff and Students are welcome to come exchange and discuss books of their choice.

Driving Theory Sessions

Our driving theory workshops aim to help you to understand the Highway Code and the rules of the road - covering topics including road signs, crossings, stopping distances and hazard perception. Discuss and learn a variety of topics or tell us the areas you want to learn more about. We believe that learning to drive is a key life skill that improves confidence, independence and self-responsibility. In addition, being able to drive is a key employability skill that can open up further job opportunities.

Arts and Crafts Club

Why not relax and reduce your stress levels with our arts and crafts session! We supply all the equipment, you supply the creativity! This session gives you the down time to drawer and paint whatever you like. Whether you're a complete beginner or a practicing artist, our arts and crafts sessions offer you a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, expand your knowledge and your portfolio.

Music Club

Our music club is for students to come along and play their musical instruments in a space with other students with similar interests. Students are welcome to bring in their own musical equipment on the day.

Wellbeing Club

An opportunity to talk in a safe space, and signpost to external support if needed.
