Role: Furniture Making Operative

Hours: 40 hours per week (including one day at college)
NB: This is an early shift. Candidates need to be able to drive for a 6am start or travel comfortably on public transport for a 7:00am start.
Salary: £7.55 per hour
Programme Duration: 24 months plus End Point Assessment (EPA)

Harrison Brothers are looking to recruit a motivated Level 2 Furniture Manufacturing Operative Apprentice to join their skilled team in Oldham. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how bedroom furniture is designed and crafted from quality materials from start to finish. Every piece of furniture or order can involve different sizes, styles, finishes or requirements. That means work is varied and you get to engage in problem-solving and craftsmanship rather than repetitive based tasks.
As an apprentice, you will learn how to:
• Set up and operate woodworking machinery, tools and equipment
• Cut, shape, measure and mark out materials to technical specifications
• Produce and assemble components for high-quality, bespoke bedroom furniture
• Use joints, veneers, laminates and edge-banding techniques
• Apply stains, sealers, basecoats and finishes to achieve premium looks
• Fit mechanical and electrical components
• Use jigs and templates to ensure precision and consistency
• Glue, sand, cramp and prepare materials throughout the build process
• Carry out basic rectification/rework and quality checks
• Safely handle, pack and store products and components
You will be involved in manufacturing:
• Handmade bedroom furniture
• Made-to-measure storage solutions
• High-quality wooden components used across Harrison Brother’s product range

• The ability to travel between Oldham (workplace) and Ashton-under-Lyne (college).
