College is host to French student

Tameside College has been host to French Exchange student, Pauline Guillou for one month, where she has completed work experience within the College and their range of departments.

Pauline is a first year University student at the Technological Institute of Quimper, which is in the North West of France. Pauline is studying a range of subjects including: Business, Accounting, Statistics, Law, Economy, Management and Marketing as she hopes to pursue a career in Marketing.

This opportunity of work experience at Tameside College will allow Pauline to develop her English skills and understand the working environment in the UK. Pauline has worked in departments across the College including; Marketing, Food Studies, Human Resources, , Adult & Community, Finance, Customer Services, Dovestones (department for students with complex needs), Hair & Beauty, School Liaison and Principalship.

Pauline spoke of her time at the College; “I have really enjoyed working alongside staff at Tameside College, they have made me feel very welcome and taught me a lot about the differences between Brittany in France and England. I found my time in the Food Studies Department really exciting, we made scones and it was really interesting learning skills to bake. I am thankful to everyone at Tameside College for allowing me this opportunity and for making me welcome.”

Pauline will return to France to continue her studies, whilst Tameside College wait for their next exchange student.

Gemma Haslam, Administration Assistant for Principalship and Coordinator of Pauline’s visit said; “It’s interesting to have a French student working alongside you, it not only allows Pauline to learn new things but it also allows staff to understand more about education in France and what life is like in a different country. Pauline has worked very well, her understanding of the English language has been excellent and has improved during her time at the College.  It has been a pleasure to have her working here at Tameside College and we wish Pauline well in her studies and future career.  We are keen to help other students from France gain experience here in England in the future.”
