Tameside Curry Competition

The Annual Curry Competition was held at Tameside College in the Courtyard Theatre with a number of local entrants for the ‘Best Restaurant’ and ‘Best Take-Away’ categories.

The restaurant category consisted of cooking a meal for four people and serving it to guests and customers in Tameside College’s Reflections Restaurant while the take-away competitors had an hour to serve two dishes to the judges.

Food and Beverage Lecturer, John Holden said “The competition was yet again an excellent success; the marks for the winner and runners up were so close it was only one point that separated them. I would like to thank the sponsors Tibard, Newland Conveyors, Rubicon Developments and ASL Cash and Carry for their support. Without them this competition would not be able to run. Also a big thank you to Shelly and Bev from the Environmental Health at Tameside Council for the organisation of the event in partnership with Tameside College.”

Congratulations to the Aashiana in Denton, who won first place in the restaurant category. Second place was awarded to The Oddfellows in Stockport. First place for the take away category was Chat Massala and second was Rajas Balti Bar in Stalybridge.
