Godley Scout Hut

Tameside College Carpentry and Joinery students are about to begin the second stage of work on the Godley Scout Hut in Tameside. The first stage of the project was started by Colin Foster, a previous scout leader, who now owns the hut with some friends where they hold gaming events. The initial first stage began 18 months ago and it involved incorporating the making and fittings of the internal partition walls. This was in urgent need as the hut was very cold and needed insulating.

Carpentry tutor Simon Rigby Wilson commented β€œIn Carpentry & Joinery our aim is to produce skilled, conscientious students who are able to work in a realistic work environment. Colin Foster has helped us in providing this. We would be grateful for any other opportunities for the students that meet their areas of need.”

The students are looking forward to resuming work on the hut with the second stage of the project starting soon. They will be working towards fixing the roof as the current roof is not up to standard and poses a fire risk.

The students involved in the project include: Stefan Robinshaw, Duaine Pilkington, Dominic Glynn, James Moore-Kotavas, Jordan Yates, Josh Napolotano and Joshua Acomb.
