Junior 'Bake Off' winners enjoy a free tutorial at Tameside College

Junior ‘Bake Off’ competition winners enjoyed a free baking tutorial at Tameside College on Saturday morning with Food Studies staff. As part of the competition, local secondary pupils had to bake a cake of their choice and send in their pictures to the ‘Bake Off’ judges at Tameside College.

Bakery tutor, Stuart Withington led the morning session where the 10 competition winners took part in creating and decorating gingerbread houses to develop their baking skills.

Martin Coughlan, Faculty Director For Business & Retail Services said: “The standard of this Junior ‘Bake off’ was extremely high and choosing just 10 winners was a difficult decision. We love doing competitions like this here at Tameside College to develop our relationships with both schools and students. We are currently developing a MasterChef competition for any budding chefs in the making. Well done to all those involved in the competition.”

School taking part in the competition included: Fairfield High School, The Blue Coat School and St Damian’s Roman Catholic Science College.
