Say hello to yellow for Mental Health Day

Staff and students at Tameside College support World Mental Health Day and charity Young Minds by wearing yellow.

The college’s wellbeing team held an event for students offering free fruit, massages, cake and yellow nail painting alongside a wall of support with messages about mental health written by students.

Bakery students baked messages on biscuits and made yellow iced cupcakes for the event.

The aim of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health problems which can affect anyone, at any time and to dispel the stigma that is attached to them. The theme of this year’s events is workplace wellbeing.

Lynn Renn, progress and welfare officer at Tameside College said: “It’s really important to promote mental health awareness. College, work and home life can be really stressful and it’s an issue that needs to be raised more often so that we can help combat it. Just like any physical illness.”
