Annual awards presentation celebrates success

Tameside College students along with their families and friends gathered in Clarendon Sixth Form College’s Brooke Vincent Theatre, for the college’s annual awards presentation.

As guests gathered for the evening of celebration, with a drinks reception, it was a fitting end to the academic year for some of the students, as they move on in their education or career.

Curriculum staff at Tameside College nominated one student from each subject area be Student of the Year 2018. A citation for each of the student was written to support the reasons for the nomination.

Suraj Rash, engineering student was chosen for the overall award due to his ‘commitment to the study programme’ and ‘his continued engagement in college activities’. The college’s management team also felt that Suraj was deserving of this award because during his time at the college ‘he has shown he represents the College values well’.

The awards presentation was opened by Clarendon Sixth Form College’s performing arts students as they took to the stage for a performance. Dr. Teresa Farran followed by welcoming everyone to the event.

Dr. Teresa Farran, deputy principal, said: “Each of the winners tonight are great role models to other students and we hope that your stories will inspire others to succeed in their education and career.”
