Level 2 Engineering Pathway to Apprenticeship

Initially you will study towards the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations. You will cover a range of engineering subjects including Health and Safety, working in an Engineering environment, using and communicating technical information and develop a range of hand and machining skills across a number of practical units which will prepare you for an apprenticeship in Engineering. The course is delivered over a 35-week fulltime study programme with the opportunity to receive paid work experience for 2 days per week during the last 2 – 3 months of the course. (subject to placement)

Upon satisfactory completion of all learning and an excellent record of positive behaviour, we have an excellent record of converting your course into a level 3 paid apprenticeship upon completion of the course.
1. Do you want to become a level 3 engineering apprentice? Then this could be the course for you.

2. A proven pre apprenticeship programme in Engineering delivered by Tameside College with great success over many years.

3. The emphasis is focused on “pre apprenticeship training”. This programme has been developed to give young people who wish to develop both practical and academic skills the skills, knowledge and behavior expectations to progress into craft apprenticeships in the Tameside area.

4. The practical skills the young people gain on this course far exceed anything being taught in schools. This has been recognised time and time again by local employers who recruit learners from March onwards to secure these well recruited, well trained and well prepared young people.

5. This program is all about preparing learners to be ready for an apprenticeship. It is made clear from the offset that the whole program is to prepare you for employment and those who succeed and behave on the course have a very high chance of progression into an L3 apprenticeship with local employers. Typically, over 80%.

6. Employability forms a large part of the learner preparation. Every learner produces a detailed CV well before the end of the programme which is sent out to lists of companies generated by the learners during employability sessions. Company visits are also arranged.
