Level 2 Vehicle Accident Repair (Paint)

The course is made up seven units. All seven units will have to be completed to achieve the qualification..

G0102K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment.

G3K/S– Knowledge and skills relating to Job Roles in the Automotive Environment.

PO01K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to tools and equipment Used in Vehicle Refinishing.

PO0408K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces.

PO0205K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to applying fillers and foundation materials.

PO06K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to repairing minor paint defects.

PO03K/S – Knowledge and skills relating to refinishing Plastic Materials and Components.
The paint refinishing course is mainly aimed at switched on individuals who are looking to enter into the Vehicle Accident Repair Sector. This highly paid skill is transferable, meaning that there is a wide ranging list of careers that this qualification is applicable to as an entry point.

Starting at Level 1, a student will be gradually introduced to different skills by time served industry specialists. Students will initially start on small projects and gradually build their skills until they are ready to take on more challenging work and projects.

If students are successful and progress to the next level, Level 2, On this course, they will learn further techniques and tricks, whilst exploring the subject in a deeper more specialised delivery model. This is also the point where we will be looking to place students in an apprenticeship if so required.

The Course runs from September to June for 35 weeks. There are seven units needed to be covered to achieve the qualification. Skills are taught during practical sessions in a simulated industry standard Bodyshop environment and the knowledge or theory side is taught in paint refinish themed learning spaces.

You will require an IMI Level 1 qualification in Vehicle Accident Repair Paint Principles or equivalent.
Throughout the duration of this course, practical and theory aspects of the course are delivered. You will complete one online assessment at the end of each unit to check you’ve learnt the appropriate knowledge. You’ll also be building up a portfolio of evidence of your practical tasks on the Institute of the Motor industry’s online Eportfolio system.
Performance is tracked and reviewed by Paint tutors at specific points during the term. Satisfactory performance will be required in all aspects of the course for progression to Level 3. Progression is to a Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Paint Refinishing or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Vehicle Paint Refinishing .
