Poster Power

Tameside College recently hosted a competition to design a poster to display the college’s commitment to equality and diversity.

Student Engagement officer, Tasnibah Raja lead the competition and commented, “The purpose of the exercise was to get students to think about what Equality and Diversity meant to them and what messages they would like to see promoted across college.”

Twenty one entries were judged by Tasnibah, Student Services Manager Diane Davies and Assistant Principal John McCall. The entries were received from programme areas including Hair and Beauty, Dovestones, E2E and Art & Design. The winning poster was designed by Art student Michelle Ingram. Michelle commented, “I wanted to take part in something that was challenging and when I heard about the competition I thought it would be a good idea to take part. I am a Class Rep for my course and I thought it was a good idea to promote a positive message across college. I feel proud of myself, and to win on my artistic ability is even better.”

You can currently see Michelle’s design posted around college, or you can click here for a preview. Michelle won a £50 voucher for HMV for her design which she donated to students in Dovestones who also took part in the competition.
