Tameside College Scoops Top UK Awards

Tameside College student Dianne Hanson achieved a remarkable perfect exam score of 100% in her IAB Certificate Level 1 in Payroll. Dianne, from Glossop, received her award from Graham Ward, Head of Qualifications at the IAB, and presented her with a plaque and certificate to celebrate her outstanding achievement. Dianne commented “I would like to thank my tutor, Janice Baddeley for her input, guidance and support during my studies, without her I would not have been able to achieve this result.” This was a double celebration for Dianne, who was also named as the IAB student of the year along with her perfect score.

Graham Ward commented “To be the top student from over 200 candidates is a tremendous achievement and one which must be recognized and applauded by both the IAB and of course Tameside College.”

It was a proud occasion for Tameside College as they also won the award for the Top United Kingdom IAB Centre in the June 2010 Examinations of the IAB Level 1 Certificate in Payroll.  Course tutor Janice Baddeley attended the presentation ceremony at the House of Commons in London where she received the award. This is the second year Janice has delivered the course along with her fellow colleague Cheryl Wallace. Janice commented “It was absolutely delightful going to the House of Commons and collecting the award. I just want to say that it was all about the hard work achieved by the students and this award is down to them.”

Curriculum manager Andrew Jenkinson also stated “it is a tremendous achievement by students and staff to be voted for the 2nd year running as the college with the best exam results in payroll training throughout the country.  This year we have the additional accolade that the best overall student in the UK payroll exams comes from Tameside, Dianne Hanson. This is a hard act to follow but we will be doing our best to make it a hat trick next year.”
