Mayor joins in with College Celebration

Tameside College welcomed the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Brenda Warrington to our Adult Learners’ Presentation Evening, which was to celebrate the achievements of the College’s adult learners.

There were 37 students nominated by their tutors for their achievements when returning to education.
The evening of celebration was held in the Courtyard Theatre at Tameside College, by the time all students and their families had arrived the Courtyard Theatre was full to capacity.

All tutors made a short speech about each of their learners and why they felt they deserved an adult learner’s award. The learners were then asked to come up and receive their certificate and award which was presented to them by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Brenda Warrington.

After all the learners had received a certificate and gift it was then time for the highlight of the evening which was the presentation of the two main awards. The first award was the Jaynie Huxley Award, presented to Fashion and Clothing student Olubunmi Raji, the award was presented by Jaynie’s mum and dad, Eunice Liddy and Ray Liddy.
The second award was the Principal’s Award which was awarded to Stuart Johnston, presented by Peter Ryder, College Principal.

The evening then drew to a close with refreshments prepared by the College’s catering students.

Tameside College would like to congratulate all our adult learners on their achievement and thank guests including the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Brenda Warrington, John Lyne, Chair of Governors and Michael Dinsdale, Governor for attending the event.
