In the national finals she ran against competitors who represented further education colleges from across the UK . Beth, a sports studies student, claimed her place in the regional squad after impressing selectors in the regional heats in October 2015 when she finished second place.  Beth maintained her form by finishing a creditable seventh place.

The ten regional teams were competing for the coveted Wilkinson Sword Award 2016.  The North West squad finished fourth when judges against a diverse range of sports with Beth’s top ten finish contributing to team’s ranking.

Luke Podmore, Student Activity Leader at Tameside College, said: "Beth has done extremely well. She is a credit to the college and she should be proud of this achievement. Beth's been given this opportunity because the college enables students to excel outside of the classroom.

"By giving Beth this wonderful opportunity, we hope that other students in the future will represent the college in local and national events such as this. As a college we support students in extracurricular activities and we provide opportunities for students at every level of ability."
