Tameside College offers first step learning for adults in the local community across Tameside at our Old Street Campus and community hubs across Tameside.

Getting involved in adult learning is a great way to meet new friends, learn new skills and support you in developing or starting your career. We have a wide range of subjects on offer taught by our friendly, supportive and knowledgeable team. If you would like any information about any of our courses, please give us a call or drop in to one of our enrolment days, where we will be happy to talk through options in more detail.

Courses are available in venues such as: Broadoak Community Hub in Smallshaw; Stalybridge Big Local Hub; Indian Temple; The Together Centre in Dukinfield; Ashton Library; Dukinfield Library; Droylsden Library; Oasis Community Centre; Waterloo Park; Greenfield primary school; St George’s primary school; Diversity Matters Northwest; Emmaus in Mossley; Hattersley Hub in Longdendale; and The Carers Centre in Ashton.

The majority of courses are free, some may have fees attached but you may be entitled to fee remission depending on your circumstances.

Course Information

Maths, English & Digital / Computer Skills

Improve your maths & English skills in introductory courses or nationally recognised qualifications. Cover topics such as reading, writing, spelling punctuation & grammar, speaking & listening, fractions, decimals, percentages.

We believe that everyone should be able to engage in a digital world if they choose to. We deliver a range of computer and digital courses. Our friendly classes will take you step by step through a range of computer packages to make some of those everyday tasks much easier and you will develop skills to interact with digital services and handle information appropriately, be safe, confident and responsible online, develop the digital skills needed for the workplace.

ESOL – English Speakers of Other Languages

Do you speak English as a second language? If yes, then we have a course specifically designed for you to improve your English. English is the international language of communication and is spoken and used every day in the business world, across the internet and in popular culture.

We have courses of different levels that will help you to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities in English as well as helping you to learn skills that are essential in the world of work. We offer English Speakers of Other Languages courses from introductory level to accredited qualifications.
