Tameside’s Gone to Iceland

Tameside College help local residents gain employment with the well known supermarket chain, Iceland.

Working in partnership with Job Centre plus and Iceland, a group of potential employees were asked to attend a pre-employment training programme at the College. The aim of the course was to help the individuals develop confidence, enhance existing skills and ultimately secure employment.

After completing the four day course each participant had the opportunity to attend a guaranteed interview with Iceland, resulting in eight of the participants successfully securing a full time position.

Maxine Roberts, Adult and Community Development Manager for Tameside College, said, “Working in partnership with Iceland has helped to put the right people into posts, we are proud to have been part of such a successful initiative”.

Maxine went on to say, “The calibre of attendees was very high and all of the participants responded positively to the opportunity to gain employment. We will continue to work closely with Job Centre Plus to support local people back into work”.
