College congratulates graduate class of 2022

Tameside College graduates celebrate successes with higher education graduation ceremony.

31 students who have completed their qualifications with the college took part in the ceremony on 15th December, at Dukinfield Town Hall.

Guests included family and friends of the graduates, The Civic Mayor and Mayoress of Tameside, Councillor Mike Glover and Anne Gordon, college governors, deputy principal Nicola Welland and Dr Nena Skrbic, head of division for lifelong learning at the University of Huddersfield.

Graduates paraded into the ceremony before speeches were conducted by Dr Skrbic and Nicola Welland, congratulating them on their achievements and discussing the value of higher education for students’ careers.

Dr Skrbic, said: “This is a very special moment, not just for you, as graduands, but for the proud parents, family members and friends that are amongst us today. Education, beyond its key role in making students more employable, should foster other human qualities - qualities that prepare them to cope more effectively with the changing demands of employment, technological advancement and cultural evolution. I’d like to convey my congratulations to you all on your achievements and wish you good luck in your future endeavours!”

Students graduating studied on a range of courses with the college, including: electrical engineering, HND in computing, HNC in business and foundation degree in teaching assistance.

Nicola Welland, deputy principal at Tameside College, said: “Congratulations to all our graduands this evening; it is a fantastic personal achievement. This event is designed to celebrate your success and share the pride we all feel for you.  This event marks a milestone in your learning journey. It is our way of telling you how well you’ve done and It is a celebration of your dedication, determination & enthusiasm.”

“As a place of learning, it is important for Tameside College to recognise how the transfer of knowledge helps individuals grow. You can apply for jobs that require a higher level of qualification, you become more confident and you’ve gained more independence. Employers also want higher level skills, independent thinkers, problem solvers and motivated leaders. Congratulations class of 2021/22 you did it!”

Tameside College offers a variety of higher education courses such as HNCs, HNDs and foundation degrees in a variety of subjects from computing to teaching.
