Apprentices and employers shine at Apprenticeship Awards 2023

Tameside College hosts annual apprenticeship awards celebrating apprentice and employer successes.

The event, which took place in the college’s Restaurant at Tameside One on Tuesday 7th February, saw apprentices and their employers, in an array of sectors, recognised for their of their efforts.

14 apprentices and 11 employers enjoyed food prepared by Tameside College hospitality students and speeches by Nicola Welland, deputy principal and Carl Shaw assistant principal, before being presented with trophies and certificates.

Award winners in the apprenticeship category included Harry Feay, an apprentice dental nurse at Carisbrook Dental Practice, who was awarded for his commitment to his role, enthusiasm and excellent work. In the great employer section, The Hair Station Stalybridge were awarded for training three consecutive apprentices and for helping to shape their successful careers.

The awards ceremony took place during National Apprenticeship Week 2023, which aims to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships to potential students and employers. According to the UK government over 90% of former apprentices stay in work or go on to further study after they complete their qualification.

Nicola, said: “The apprenticeship awards celebrate all the great things about apprenticeships, focus on our apprentices’ achievements and the fantastic employers who have helped them to do so well. Tameside College is increasingly becoming a leader in this area and we have a vision to deliver the best training and facilities in the region. I would like to congratulate all of our award winners and thank their skills coaches, employers, parents and carers for their continued support.”
