Students are golden in Greater Manchester competitions

Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College students excel in prestigious skills competitions.
Students from across the college were awarded an impressive array of top prizes in the recent Greater Manchester Colleges Group (GMCG) skills competitions.
The college won the overall prizes in the hospitality, health and social care and travel competitions, alongside seven 1st places, five 2nd places and nine 3rd places.
The competitions, which cover subjects from hair and beauty and engineering to computing, aim to raise the profile of technical education in Greater Manchester and inspire students to pursue their future career paths. These serve as a feeder to the WorldSkills UK competitions, in which the college has seen many successful students compete.
The GM skills competitions have been officially endorsed by WorldSkills UK for 2025, as part of their local skills competition partnership.
This year, the college hosted the finals of the automotive, engineering and science competitions in the state of the art advanced technologies centre and in the recently constructed automotive centre, where students had access to the latest industry standard equipment.
Jackie Moores, principal and CEO at Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “These fantastic results are a testament to the dedication and talent of our students and staff. The Greater Manchester Colleges skills competitions provide an incredible opportunity for learners to showcase their abilities and gain real world experience in their chosen fields, competing with all the Greater Manchester talent from other high performing colleges. We are extremely proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive. Well done to all who took part.”
