Royal recognition for college staff member

Tameside College staff member recognised at prestigious Royal garden party for contributions to education.
Andrew McLeod, head of community education and ESOL at Tameside College, was nominated to attend the event, which took place at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 14th May, by Holex, a national network of over 140 community learning providers, in recognition of his services to education.
Andrew attended the event alongside Jackie Moores, principal and CEO and Lorna Fegan, assistant principal at Tameside College.
During the garden party, guests had the opportunity to meet with the King and Queen to discuss their work in the community education sector and meet other guests from across the length and breadth of the UK.
Andrew, said: “I feel truly humbled and honoured to have been invited to the King’s Education Garden Party. Meeting so many others who have contributed to student success, all over the country, was incredible and the day was really something else. I am extremely grateful for this special opportunity.”
Lorna, said: “It was a real privilege to stand beside someone whose dedication, integrity and impact have been formally recognised at the highest level. It was fantastic to pause, celebrate and reflect on the power of service and the importance of recognising those who quietly go above and beyond every day. Congratulations to Andrew on his amazing award.”
