Principal receives lifetime achievement award from Tameside business community

Jackie Moores, principal and chief executive officer at Tameside College received a lifetime achievement award at the Pride of Tameside Business Awards (POTBA) 2026 at Dukinfield town hall.

The award was presented by Emma Alexander, Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council chief executive.  The POTBA organisers recognised Jackie’s achievements in a unique and surprise celebration to mark her retirement from the college, this Christmas. The presentation was greeted with a standing ovation from local employers who attended the evening.

POTBA cited: “Jackie’s 35 years of exceptional service in post 16 education, including eleven years as Principal of Tameside College, where she continues to deliver her vision to deliver high quality further education for learners, employers and communities across Tameside and Greater Manchester. As a result, the colleges’ reputation, campus, workforce and enrolments have grown and improved significantly.”

Jackie Moores, on receiving the lifetime achievement award, said: “I am honoured to have received this award and accepted it on behalf of ‘Team Tameside’. It is through outstanding partnership work with employers and with elected members and officers at the local authority that the college has enjoyed much success. Our learners and apprentices study in some of the best educational estate in the UK. Every single member of staff and our board members have contributed to the success of the college. I am delighted to pass the baton on to the new principal, with the college in a stronger position, than it was when I started.”
