Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing VRQ (Adult Part-Time)

This is a part time, fast paced study programme which covers a wide range of advanced hairdressing skills and knowledge. You will develop your basic skills and take them onto the salon floor gaining experience while providing a diverse range of salon services. The units are assessed internally by subject specialist teachers. Units consist of both practical and theory assessments (exams and assignments), which are carried out in our new, high street, commercial salon.

Throughout the course you will study units that include health and safety, consultation support, creatively styling, advanced creative colouring, colour correction, advanced perming, creative cutting and creative hair design skills.

You will develop important employability skills that are essential in hairdressing such as providing a high level of customer service, strong communication skills, dealing with a diverse clientele, working as part of a team and time management. You will also be stretched to improve your English/literacy skills, through written tasks and maths/numeracy ability through manging appointments, timing and cost calculating services in the salon.

You will also be required to purchase the salon uniform and a kit prior to commencing the course. Financial support is available to some students to purchase equipment.
Hairdressing offers an exciting and challenging career in a creative and fast paced industry.

The course includes a variety of practical and theory classes alongside commercial salon sessions on paying clients, preparing you with the skill and confidence to work in this creative industry. You will take part in trips, visits, seminars and competitions alongside your course to further develop your understanding and knowledge of the industry.

Work experience in a hairdressing salon/barbers is recommended alongside this programme to enhance your skills, keep you up to date with the latest trends and aid employability and progression opportunities.
Learners will need to possess a Hairdressing Level 2.

You will be interviewed by subject specialist teachers and should demonstrate enthusiasm about a career in the hairdressing industry and be able to participate in work experience recommendations.

This course requires self-motivation to manage the high level of self-study required on a part time programme.
· You will be assessed by various methods of assessment including practical assessments, online exams, assignments and written tasks.

· You need to complete all units of the course to pass, with each unit graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. .

If you are aged between 19-23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A-Levels, tuition fees will be waived.
