Level 1 Construction Multiskills

This programme is the first step to gaining a qualification in the Construction Industry; this course will give you an insight into a number of different vocational areas enabling you to experience a wide range of Construction skills. This course would suit learners who would like a challenging career within a vibrant industry such as the Construction Industry but as yet do not know their chosen pathway..

The course covers the following units:

Health and safety in construction trades

Working and communicating effectively in construction trades

Construct woodworking joints

Fit architrave and skirting

Fit ironmongery to an internal door

Mix construction materials

Construct brick & Block walling

Prepare common surface types for decoration

Apply basic paint systems by brush and roller

Apply foundation and plain papers
An Individual Learning Plan will be designed for your needs

You will be assigned a Personal Tutor and a Progress Tutor who specifically look after your pastoral and course requirements

You will work with the latest industry tooling as used by Construction specialists including Festool, Hitachi, Maple, Stanley, OX, Hamilton’s, Mirka & Felder.

On your course you will experience Industry talks, Industry visits and compete in various Skills Competitions

You will be encouraged to complete a C.V. and apply for Tameside College Apprenticeships within your chosen specialism and gain valuable work skills from work-experience placements.
Learners must have;

3 GCSEs grade 1 or above

Successful interview with a Construction tutor

A genuine interest in the subject

Good communication skills

A hardworking approach towards the industry
