Employability skills cooking skills has been designed to meet the needs of all learners who are either seeking employment or are already working in first level catering and hospitality roles.

The whole team is really excited to be joining you on the next step of your journey into the exciting education and building on your cooking and employability work skills.

Ability to work as a team while preparing wide range of foods for all kind of food outlets. Throughout the course you will be develop a wide range of cooking and baking skills alongside health and safety, organisation and communication skills, developing modern skills and using state of the art new equipment in our amazing new facilities at Tameside One.

These strong cooking / employability skills will help you progress either onto further education programs ; Apprentices or full time courses within college further developing your skills or on into the exciting world of Hospitality and Catering industry, Interview skills will be embedded to help you succeed. The course includes a variety of practical and theory-based classes, including presentations, group activities, role plays as well as a portfolio of evidence. An Individual Learning Plan (ILP), to meet your needs and set targets which will be regularly reviewed to enable your progress and achieve.
No formal qualifications required, you will need a basic understanding of Maths and English and the course will require you to build a portfolio of evidence.
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, presentations and written work, practical assessments.

You will be assessed across 5 units of study, all of which are compulsory units, and develop knowledge and understanding of the role of in employability skills, the duties undertaken and the career opportunities available.
On successful completion of the course, you can progress onto:

●  An Apprenticeship; working in a multitude of sectors in areas such as Bakery and Catering

●  Employment; Bakery, catering, Hospitality.

●  Education; many young people then go onto access Level 1, Level 2 Certificate in Catering and Bakery and L3 courses which act as a pathway into Higher Education.

These courses are available to all adult learners, no matter your employment status, but if you are:
Not in paid employment and receiving a means tested benefit - please bring with you current dated benefit documentation.
In paid employment but with an annual gross salary of less than £23,104 - please bring with you a wage slip dated within 3 months of the start of the course.
