Level 2 Vehicle Accident Repair (Body)
This programme is designed to build on students’ knowledge and skills developed at introductory level. Students continue to study and develop a wide range of skills required for seeking employment as a body repair technician within the motor vehicle industry.
The course covers advanced techniques gained at introductory level on repairing body panels, fitting new panels, welding and fabrication of vehicle bodies and combines both theory and practical work. This intermediate course runs for 35 weeks from September to June.
Working in our new state of the art Body and Paint Training Centre you will be highly trained by industry panel technician professionals:
· Fixing crash damaged cars to repairing the smallest dent.
· Using the latest industry standard equipment and products such as Car-o-liner Jigs and Welders including Mirka abrasives, ESAB welders & HB Body consumables
You will also:
· Experience a realistic working environment working on road going cars and vehicle panels.
· Take part in specialist industry visits to the Automechanica Show, Skills Shows, Go-karting and other college enrichment activities.
· Strong links with local and high-profile employers,
· Previous students have gained employment with local employers e.g. Apprenticeships with Pentagon , Stoneacre, and Fix auto
· Guest speakers from industry professionals on a range of new products from Colourtone, Devilbiss, 3M, Farecla, HB Body and Lechler, Mirka
· Recognised awarding body City&Guilds
· Learn a range of skills from MIG welding metal fabrication use of hand tools and specialist body repair tools within the safe college working environment.
· Perform practical tasks including panel removal, repairs to doors wings bonnets tailgates, trim work, glass removal, bumper repairs plus other units, dent filling, stripping and rebuilding vehicle interiors
· Perform mechanical electrical trim ( M.E.T.) work
· Undertake exclusive and diverse project repair work on classic cars, modern cars incorporating traditional and advanced skill sets.
L1 Certificate or Diploma in Vehicle Body or Accident Repair + at least 3 GCSE’s
Throughout the duration of this course, practical and theory aspects of the course are delivered. You will complete an online assessment at the end of each unit to check you’ve learnt the appropriate knowledge. You’ll also be building up a portfolio of evidence of your practical tasks on the City & Guilds online Eportfolio system.
By achieving this qualification, you could take up employment in the automotive body repair sector or you could further your studies in a L3 Vehicle Body Technician Apprenticeship.
