Level 2 Plumbing

This qualification is for learners aged 16–19 who wish to pursue a career as a plumber within the building services industry. It has been designed to develop a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform to progress into further learning via an apprenticeship or directly into employment. This Level 2 vocational route is a crucial step towards becoming a fully qualified plumber. You will gain an understanding of the essential skills required in the plumbing sector. Key areas covered include: - Hot Water Systems - Cold Water Systems - Sanitation - Central Heating

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required

within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

●  Hot Water

●  Cold Water

●  Sanitation

●  Central Heating
Your timetable will include 7 hours of classroom-based learning each week to develop underpinning knowledge, 6 hours of practical workshop experience, and a 1-hour tutorial, spread across 4 to 5 days per week. Our study programmes include a vocational qualification alongside English and maths, work experience, and employability skills. Students also have the opportunity to participate in sports and enrichment activities as part of their course. You can easily transition from this study programme to a Plumbing Apprenticeship at Tameside College. The course includes dedicated time for individual/self-study, which must be supported by your own independent work outside the college. E-learning is a key component and will involve using Microsoft Teams for study and coursework. There will also be opportunities to showcase your skills through skills competitions. You will need to supply your own personal protective equipment, including safety boots and workwear (these can be purchased at a discounted rate from approved suppliers). All other tools and equipment are provided. However, you will need to bring basic classroom supplies such as folders, pens, and rulers.

Our study programmes include a vocational qualification, English and maths, work experience and employability skills. Students also have the opportunity to take part in sport and enrichment activities alongside their course.

You can easily transfer from a study programme onto a Plumbing apprenticeship course. There will be dedicated individual/self-study time which needs to be supported by your own study out of the College learning environments. E-learning is also a key element of all our courses and will involve you using Microsoft Teams for independent study and learning

There are opportunities to demonstrate your skills and abilities through skill competitions. You will need your own personal protective equipment including safety boots and work clothing (you can purchase these from our approved suppliers at a discounted rate). Although all other tools and equipment are provided, you will need to purchase stationery items for use in the classroom such as folders, pens and rulers.
- GCSE Maths and English at grades 9–4

- Level 1 qualification in Construction or Building Services (completed at Tameside College, successful with our progression process)
To achieve the full qualification, you must successfully complete:

- A practical end assessment to demonstrate your skills

- An online theory exam under formal exam conditions

- Move onto a Plumbing Installation Apprenticeship with Tameside College
