Level 2 Hair & Media Make-Up

This is a full time, fast paced study programme which covers a wide range of makeup techniques, styles and genres. The units are assessed internally by subject specialist teachers. Most units consist of a mix of theory assessments (exams and assignments) and practical assessments which are carried out in our brand new, high street, commercial media makeup studio.

Some of the topics you will cover over the year include Health and Safety, The Art of Dressing Hair, The Art of Photographic Makeup, Application of Makeup, Tanning, Eyebrow treatments, Body Art and Create an Image. You will also be required to purchase the salon uniform and a kit prior to commencing the course. Financial support is available to some students to purchase equipment. It is required that you carry out a home study, revision and complete tasks and assignments within your own time.
Media Makeup offers an exciting and challenging career in a fast-paced and always growing industry.

The course includes a variety of practical and theory classes alongside commercial salon sessions on paying clients. You will take part in trips, visits, seminars and competitions alongside your course to further develop your understanding and knowledge of the industry. You are also expected to undertake work experience to enhance your skills, keep you up to date with the latest trends and aid employability and progression opportunities. These have included; fashion shows, theatrical productions and salon placements in the past.

You will be interviewed by subject specialist teachers and should demonstrate enthusiasm about a career in the makeup industry.
You will be assessed by various methods of assessment including practical assessments, online exams, assignments and written tasks.
