BA (Hons) Education (Supporting Teaching and Learning) (Huddersfield)
Course content & format
The BA Hons Education (STL) in partnership with the University of Huddersfield is delivered on a part-time basis, during an evening session over five hours, 1 evening/week (TBC). Teaching would be classroom-based and delivered face-to-face, through a series of lectures, seminars, tutorials and interactive workshops, over 34 weeks. The last three weeks of the programme will be a marking/assessment period. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, projects, extended writing and interactive activities.

All lecturers teaching this course hold a PCGE or equivalent qualification in education as well as a degree in their area of practice.

Your learning experience
If you are interested in making a difference to children and young people’s educational development, then this is the course for you. You could be working with young children from birth to five years in early years, within a primary school or secondary school or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision.
This academic qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to move forward towards your goal with opportunities to link theory & practice and to share good practice with practitioners working in a range of settings. You will gain specific knowledge and experience from guest speakers and would undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Entry qualifications
● 112 UCAS tariff points (a combination of A-levels/L3 in Early Childhood, Learning Support or a related area).
● Merit at T-level.
● Access to HE (45 L3 credits at merit or above).
● 112 UCAS tariff points from International Baccalaureate.
● RPL for current L4 holders will be considered in line with UoH guidance.
● GCSE English Language C/4 or above or equivalent.
● In employment/voluntary work in an appropriate setting.
● Minimum for IELTs is 6.0 overall with no elements lower than 5.5.
Other suitable experience to be considered in line with UoH guidelines, e.g., for mature students.
All applicants will be invited to an information session to complete a range of academic tasks, class discussion and an individual interview to discuss if the course is suitable for you.
How is this course assessed?
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including academic posters & displays, reflective summaries, portfolios research proposals and research reports.
What can I do next?
You will receive a BA (Hons) in Education (Supporting Teaching and Learning) at the end of this course accredited by the University of Huddersfield.
On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:
· Employment within the Early Years /Teaching Assistant roles
· Progress into teaching through completion of Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or
Early Years Qualified Teacher Status (EYQTS)
· Further study at Masters Level
