Level 1 Business & Finance

This qualification gives learners the opportunity to acquire and develop generic, transferable and business-specific skills in order to complete tasks and demonstrate a level of achievement that enables you to progress into the business sector or onto further learning.

This course is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating a range of transferable skills including communication, working with others, problem solving, managing information, self-management and development of a personal progression plan where you can set your career goals and reflect on the behaviours and skills you would need to develop to achieve your goal.

Throughout the course you will study 10 units in total. These include:

Being Organised, Working with Others, Researching a topic, Presenting a Business idea, Contributing to an event, Communicating with Customers, Recording income and expenditure
You will learn through a variety of teaching methods to improve your employability skills, this includes practical tasks, presenting information, keeping and working on log-books, records and journals, taking part in presentations, role plays and interviews.

You will also have the opportunity to practice English and maths skills, for example solving money problems and writing clearly and coherently and improve your employability by developing a CV and mastering interview techniques.

You will also have the opportunity to develop leadership and collaboration skills on group projects and to visit different business to learn from current industries. You may also have the opportunity to take part in competitions.

You will grow in confidence in a structure protected safe environment. Which will prepare you to go on and thrive in Level 2 having a good understanding of basic business.
Level 1 (Foundation)

- 3 GCSEs grade 1 or above.
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, displays, case studies, presentations, extended written work and practical assessments
On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto:

Level 2 First Certificate in Business.
